V A S T A
V A S T A is a solo of multiple presences, marking Lina Gómez’s return to the stage as a performer in her own work after nearly two decades working as a choreographer. Gómez moves backwards as a continuous gesture. In doing so, she draws on Latin American cosmovisions in which the past lies ahead of the body, visible and knowable, while the future approaches from behind, beyond view.
The piece unfolds in dialogue with her late grandmothers, women shaped by strength and endurance. Their gestures, their silences, and their stories, marked by different forms of violence and joy, remain present. On stage, they become an act of rewriting: absence gains weight, presence flickers.
The body becomes a living archive, suspended between recollection and imagination. Memories of Colombian and Brazilian dances emerge through circular movement, rhythm, and live percussion interwoven with electronic sound. V A S T A approaches the circle as a space of encounter, resist-
ance, and shared time, asking what we carry forward, what we transform, and what we choose to leave behind.
